La Dolce Vita

What a whirlwind of a month it has been.  We finished up our second module last week after two weeks of exams and are in the middle of our first break.  Breaks are not overrated, at all.

School is steadily progressing.  In the last month, we were able to get much more clinical and patient face time.  For PT Science 1, our shadowing experiences were completed, we had a lab at the hospital, and we were able to have a mock clinic at Elon with previous patients, working through a variety of scenarios in preparation for our practical exams.  We also interviewed patients for our practical in Clinical Seminar.  These times, although short, were a great reminder of why we’re going into this field when we get overwhelmed with bookwork.

On that note, a classmate of mine sent this YouTube video on to our class during exams as a reminder of why PT is such a worthwhile field.  Check it out if you have a few minutes:

Additionally, clinical site placement is getting much more real.  Some students have all of their three sites placed while some are still waiting patiently to hear anything back.  It’s a waiting game and a game of priorities, but it feels worthwhile knowing what experience the clinical will bring.  Personally, I am still waiting to get placed for my first and second clinicals but I do have my third one set up at a new site.  This year, Dr. Janssen worked together with Eduglobal Associates to set up a contract at a site in Italy.  Another classmate and myself got accepted and will both be headed to Italy for an 8-wk clinical—not bad at all!

We have yet to find out many of the details but I’ll be honest, I’ll roll with whatever they hand me.  I’ll be living in Italy and getting PT experience abroad—yes, please.

Hope you’re all well!
